WINS PURPLE DRAGONFLY BOOK AWARD
CAPE MAY, NEW JERSEY (June, 2011) – The judges of the second annual Purple Dragonfly Book Awards contest, which recognizes excellence in children's literature, have spoken, and both BUBBLE GUM DREAMS and ELEPHANT SOUP?, written by MARY ANN CASTAGNETTA, won 2nd Place in two catergories; PICTURE BOOKS ages 5 & up, and PICTURE BOOKS ages 6 & up.
“Winning any place in the Purple Dragonfly Contest is a huge honor because in order to maintain the integrity of the Dragonfly Book Awards, a minimum score of 72 out of 80 must be earned for a 1st Place award, 64 out of 80 for a 2nd Place and 56 out of 80 for an Honorable Mention – even if it is the sole entry in a category,” explains Linda Radke, president of Five Star Publications, the sponsor of the Dragonfly Book Awards. “Competition is steep, too, because there is no publication date limit as long as the book is still in print.”
BUBBLE GUM DREAMS is the story of a boy’s adventures through his dreams as he makes friends and meets new creatures in a whimsical adventure romp, and ELEPHANT SOUP? is about a boy, home from school with a cold. His imagination runs wild when his Mom tells him his Nana is bringing him Elephant Soup to make him feel better.
